SCOPE

In the global economic world and new networked environment, the success of an enterprise more and more depends on its ability to seamlessly interoperate with other agile enterprises. Enterprise collaboration, interoperability and services are important approaches to empower enterprises for creating new business value in global competition. The IFIP IWEI (International Working Conference on Enterprise Interoperability) conferences, which are held by the IFIP TC5 WG 5.8 (Enterprise Interoperability), aim at identifying and discussing challenges and solutions with respect to enterprise interoperability, both at the business and the technical level. Since 2008, three IFIP IWEI conferences have been held in Munich(2008), Valencia(2009) and Stockholm(2011) respectively. In September 2012, the IFIP IWEI conference will be held in Harbin, China. This conference focuses on collaboration, interoperability and services for networked enterprises, and will promote to develop the scientific foundation for enterprise collaboration and interoperability, the framework for addressing interoperability challenges from different viewpoints, the new IT and business approaches for enterprise interoperability, the methods and models to evaluate interoperability solutions, and the practical solutions of enterprise interoperability.

Model Driven Service Engineering (MDSE) in Enterprise Ecosystems

Yves Ducq, Ricardo Goncalves, Adolfo Steiger

**** Session scope

Model Driven Service Engineering (MDSE) is an emerging concept in development by the MSEE (Manufacturing Service Ecosystem) European Research Project (http://www.msee-ip.eu/) to contribute to the design and the generation of the various domain components in the service system engineering activities. With MDSE there is envisaged an opportunity to address many of the limitations of the traditional approaches to service engineering, by providing rigorous methods for capturing and integrating requirements, design, analysis, and verification along the Services System Lifecycle Management (SLM), as well as facilitating the maintenance, assessment, and communication across the SLM.

The architecture to implement MDSE (MDSEA) has been designed based on the MDA/MDI (Model Driven Architecture/Model Driven Interoperability) paradigm, providing enhanced capabilities for service development and support to interoperability among services, offering more understanding between the developments teams in a Virtual Enterprise or Manufacturing Service Ecosystem. With MDSEA, it is expected from a methodological viewpoint to adapt, modify, and extend the SSME (Service Science, Management, Engineering) concepts so that they could be applicable to traditionally product-oriented enterprises. from an implementation viewpoint it is anticipated that MDSE can instantiate Future Internet service oriented architectures and platforms for global manufacturing service systems.

**** Session objectives

The main objective of this session is to present the latest results in the domain of MDI/SOA concerning research projects and the transfer towards industry. These results are research and industry oriented results.

**** Topics

MDI, SOA, MDSE, Enterprise Modelling, Enterprise Interoeprability, Model Transformation , Interoperability Services Utility (ISU), Orchestration and Mediation between services , Business-IT alignment, Reference Ontology and Mapping mechanism , Semantic annotations for information interoperability, Case studies and experience reports in MDI-SOA and MDSE.
